AFROSAI-E and ARABOSAI collaborate to train SAIs on auditing the SDGs

In the spirit of mutual experience benefits all, AFROSAI-E collaborated with ARABOSAI to hold a training workshop on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Hammamet, Tunisia from 7-11 July 2019. Ten SAIs from the ARABOSAI region participated namely, Jordan, Tunisia, Algeria, Iraq, Qatar, Morocco, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Oman and Libya.

The objective of the workshop was to:

  • facilitate greater understanding on the role of SAIs to contribute to the achievement of the SDGs and;
  • to prepare auditors to conduct performance audits on the SDGs.

The workshop included sessions on raising awareness on sustainable development, global environmental and social risks, unpacking the SDGs and Agenda 2063 and conducting performance audits on SDGs. Overall the workshop provided a valuable opportunity information and experience sharing between the SAIs.

Beyond the focus on auditing the SDGs; individuals, SAIs, countries and regions all have an important role to play in contributing towards a more sustainable society. AFROSAI-E training on the SDGs therefore aims to motivate and inspire participants to make a sustainable impact in their direct environment and beyond.
