Your Story – Ethics in Public Sector Accountancy

We need your stories about the ethical challenges you have experienced working as a professional accountant or auditor in the public sector.

The African Professionalisation Initiative (API) is an initiative that seeks to address the shortage of professional accountants and auditors (generally referred to as “accountants”) in the African public sector through partnership with key stakeholders. The initiative seeks to achieve this by providing learning and support tools that are relevant to the African context, to be used for professionalisation efforts in different African countries.

YOUR STORY

The API is looking for real-life stories that you have experienced or personally know of that relate to ethical issues or dilemmas that have taken place in the public sector. Stories can be in the context of accounting, auditing, or any other element of public financial management and financial accountability in the public sector (e.g. raising revenue, supply chain management, budgeting, performance management etc.). The project aims to use these real-life stories to provide practical learning content for those undertaking this professionalisation journey. Your story can help aspiring professionals to be better equipped to support accountability, transparency and good governance in the public sector.
