SAI Nigeria welcomes new Auditor General, Mr Adolphus Aghughu

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Mr Aghughu Adolphus Arhotomhenla as the Auditor-General of the Federation. The Senate confirmed his appointment last week and the President of the Senate, Mr Ahmad Lawan, noted that providing the required support to the office of the Auditor-General for the Federation would not only guarantee effectiveness and efficiency, but ensure the successful fight against corruption in the country.

Mr Aghughu has served as the acting Auditor-General since October 2020.

With a master’s degree in economics, Mr Aghughu is a Fellow of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management and Associate member of Chartered Institute of Taxation. He is currently a part- time Ph.D. student in Environmental Resource Management at the Nasarawa State University Keffi, Nigeria

He became an Auditor in the Office of the Auditor-General in 1992 and was promoted to the rank of Director of Audit in January 2016.
