Regional Workshop: Annual Extractive Industries Workshop

November 24 - November 27

Given the significant contribution of extractive industries to many African economies, and the governance and accountability challenges associated with the management of natural resource revenues, effective public sector oversight remains a key area of focus for SAIs across the region.

The 2026 workshop, marking the 11th year of this regional engagement, will be hosted by SAI Angola (Tribunal de Contas) in Luanda from 24 to 27 November 2026.

The four-day workshop will be held under the theme: “Auditing for Accountability: Strengthening Public Sector Oversight of Extractive Industry Revenues in an Era of Transition and Transparency.”

Discussions will focus on three key areas:

  • Revenue Assurance and Fiscal Transparency in Extractive Industries
  • Governance, Beneficial Ownership and State-Owned Enterprise Oversight
  • Critical Minerals, the Energy Transition and the Emerging Audit Frontier

A full-day learning excursion will take place on Day 3, providing participants with an opportunity to visit selected extractive industry facilities in Angola and connect workshop discussions with operational realities in the sector.

The workshop aims to strengthen the capacity of SAIs to audit extractive industry revenues, contractual arrangements and beneficial ownership structures, while facilitating the exchange of practical audit approaches, methodologies, experiences and findings across participating SAIs. It will also provide an opportunity to draw on Angola’s experience and ongoing governance reforms as part of the broader regional discussion on transparency, accountability and public sector oversight in the extractive industries.

Registration for the workshop will close on 16 November 2026. Nominated participants can click on the link below to register:
