As we begin 2026, AFROSAI-E stands firmly committed to advancing our vision of “Making a difference in the performance of SAIs.” This Operational Plan represents the second year of implementing our five-year Strategic Plan (2025–2029), which sets out our long-term goals to empower SAIs to achieve greater audit impact and quality, and to transform organisational capabilities for sustainable performance.
The Operational Plan serves as the bridge between strategy and execution; while the Strategic Plan provides the overarching direction, the Operational Plan translates these priorities into actionable steps, measurable targets, and resource allocations for the year. It ensures that our ambitions are grounded in practical interventions to meet the Strategic Plan and deliver tangible results at the SAI level. Insights from prior years’ ICBF results, engagements with our members and other activities informed the 2026 Operationalisation Plan.
While implementing the operational plan, we remain committed to:
- Deepen support for quality and relevant audits, focusing on ISSAI compliance, sustainability assurance, extractive industries, and digitalisation.
- Strengthen institutional resilience, leadership development, and stakeholder engagement to enhance independence and credibility.
- Expand the use of digital tools and Quality Management Reviews.
- Leverage existing capacity of SAIs through the use of resources and peer-to-peer learning.
- Advocate for sustainable funding and partnerships, recognising that collaboration with donors and stakeholders is essential for achieving our shared vision.
We continue to work with our member SAIs to enable effective decision-making and help SAIs become more resilient and adaptable, allowing them to respond effectively to changing contexts and challenges. We also work with partners and stakeholders; together, we can build institutions that not only meet international standards but also drive accountability, transparency, and good governance across Africa.
