Webinar: Strengthening Accountability through Climate Expenditure Tracking
31 March 2026 @ 10:00 – 11:30 SAST
As countries increase investments to address climate change, ensuring that public funds are effectively planned, tracked, and used has never been more critical. This webinar will explore the growing importance of climate expenditure tracking and the vital role Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) play in promoting transparency, accountability, and informed decision-making.
Featuring experts from UNDP and international practitioners, the session will provide an overview of climate-sensitive public financial management, practical approaches to identifying and tagging climate expenditure, and common challenges faced by governments. Participants will also gain insights from country-level experience, including the Philippines, on how SAIs can use audit work to strengthen compliance with climate policies and enhance the impact of public spending.
The speakers:

An overview of why tracking public climate expenditure matters, and the critical role SAIs play in strengthening accountability, transparency, and oversight of climate finance.
- Shanaz Brormann (International Climate Finance Consultant)
