AFROSAI-E is proud to announce the signing of a new development agreement with the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad). The agreement was signed on the second day of the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development, taking place in Seville, Spain. The official signing was held between Norway’s Minister of International Development, Mr. Andreas Motzfeldt Kravik Aukrust, and AFROSAI-E CEO, Ms. Meisie Nkau.

This partnership marks a significant milestone for AFROSAI-E as Norad joins as a new strategic partner to support the implementation of our Strategic Plan. The agreement will directly contribute to building the capacity of Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) across English-speaking Africa to improve public financial management and increase accountability for the use of public resources.

“We are deeply grateful to Norad for this generous grant and honoured to welcome them as a new partner in our efforts to strengthen public sector auditing across our region,” said Meisie Nkau. “This support comes at a crucial time for AFROSAI-E, as it enables us to continue and expand our work in helping SAIs become well-functioning institutions that produce quality, relevant audits. Norad’s commitment is not only a vote of confidence in our mission—it is an investment in stronger governance and better outcomes for our citizens.”

The agreement forms part of Norway’s broader initiative to help developing countries mobilise domestic resources and ensure that public funds are managed responsibly and transparently—an essential step toward sustainable economic development and growth.
