In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, AFROSAI-E conducted a research project entitled “SAI resilience in addressing the auditor expectation gap during disaster periods: The case of sub-Saharan SAIs during the COVID-19 pandemic”. Amongst other findings, the research shows that here is a notable expectation gap on the audit activities SAIs are expected to perform during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Auditor General of South Africa (AGSA) is making great strides to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. This interview with the Auditor General, Mr Kimi Makwetu, aims to create a platform to share the AGSA experience with the INTOSAI community. Mr Makwetu shares his perspectives and insights on key issues that we identified during the research project. Click here to view the full interview.

The full reseach paper will be published shortly.
