SAI Kenya continues to demonstrate its commitment to strengthening performance auditing, with two cohorts of auditors progressing through the AFROSAI-E Performance Audit 3-Module Course during 2026.
The structured year-long programme combines practical training with real audit assignments, enabling participants to apply new skills directly to ongoing performance audits while learning from peers across the region.
In April, the first cohort completed the final phase of the programme, the Module 3 (Main Study) Workshop. During this stage, audit teams submitted draft performance audit reports for review by facilitators and peers. Seven draft reports were assessed, with participants receiving detailed feedback and developing implementation plans to strengthen the quality of their final products.
A key feature of the workshop was the peer review process, which allowed participants to evaluate and critique one another’s reports, exchange experiences, and build professional networks that are expected to continue beyond the course itself. The workshop also contributed to developing future facilitators, further strengthening AFROSAI-E’s regional pool of performance audit trainers.
Building on this momentum, a second cohort of 24 SAI Kenya auditors participated in the Module 2 (Pre-study) Workshop in Machakos from 11–22 May 2026. Working in teams, participants focused on developing high-quality pre-study memos and work plans for real audit topics, laying the foundation for impactful performance audits that deliver value to citizens.
The second cohort will continue their learning journey through the Main Study Module later this year, where they will refine their audits and develop draft performance audit reports.
SAI Kenya’s sustained investment in performance audit capacity is already yielding results. Earlier this year, the SAI received the AFROSAI-E Best Performance Audit Report Award, a recognition that reflects both the quality of its work and its commitment to continuous professional development.
