Our commitment to delivering high-quality training to our member SAIs is supported by the partnerships we develop with capable global players in the capacity-building arena. The Canadian Audit and Accountability Foundation (CAAF) is one such partner that we recently teamed up with to provide training on Engaging the Auditee in our region. AFROSAI-E sponsored 11 participants from seven regional SAIs to attend the virtual training.
The two-day training emphasised essential soft skills that auditors need to develop and offered practical methods for engaging auditees to conduct impactful audits and ensure the effective application of recommendations.
Participants from SAIs in Botswana, Uganda, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, The Gambia, and Ethiopia were actively engaged throughout the virtual training and praised for their insightful contributions. The training highlighted that our teams understand the value of effective stakeholder engagement with auditees and need guidance on the behaviours and approaches required to achieve this.
Participants in this training are expected to share their knowledge and encourage the implementation of the techniques learned with the SAI audit teams through in-house training interventions.
AFROSAI-E will continue to select training courses from the CAAF to strengthen our member SAIs in achieving their missions. We extend our gratitude to the CAAF for their partnership in this activity and look forward to more enthusiastic participation from our region in such training interventions.
