21 – 24 October 2024, Harare
Forty-five employees from SAI Zimbabwe are participating in an AFROSAI-E workshop on the audit of disasters this week. The African Development Bank (AfDB) is funding this initiative to build the SAI’s capacity for planning, performing, and reporting on disaster situation audits throughout the three phases of disaster.
In 2021, AFROSAI-E research on SAI resilience showed the need for SAIs to contribute more to state disaster preparedness, transparency, and accountability. The workshop is based on the AFROSAI-E Disaster Audit Pocket Guide, which aligns with ISSAI 100, GUID 5330, and GUID 9000. Workshop participants will be exposed to the e-learning version of the AFROSAI-E Anti-corruption Toolkit, which specifies how to identify and respond to corruption risks when performing audits of disaster situations.
AFROSAI-E will provide hands-on and peer support to SAI Zimbabwe in auditing the disasters the SAI has identified.
