The Supreme Audit Institution (SAI) of Mauritius has taken a groundbreaking step by becoming the 11th SAI to implement the AFROSAI-E SAI Enhancement Audit Tool (A-SEAT). This milestone marks a significant stride toward enhancing audit efficiency and effectiveness, showcasing SAI Mauritius’s commitment to innovation in public sector auditing.
The deployment of A-SEAT took place from 2 to 13 December 2024, during which the AFROSAI-E technical team collaborated closely with SAI Mauritius to configure and customise the tool. The tailored implementation ensured seamless alignment with the institution’s existing processes, paving the way for efficient integration into its operations.
In a bid to ensure sustainable adoption, SAI Mauritius’s IT staff received hands-on training during the deployment. This intensive training programme equipped them with the necessary skills to manage, administer, and provide ongoing support for A-SEAT, enabling them to assist users effectively while maintaining optimal system functionality.
Looking ahead, the deployment is set to be followed by an additional phase of training in May 2025. This training will focus on transitioning a pilot team to the Mauritius SAI Enhancement Audit Tool (MUSEAT), a localised adaptation of A-SEAT. The pilot team will be empowered to become system champions, taking the lead in the full-scale rollout of MUSEAT across the institution.
SAI Mauritius’s adoption of A-SEAT is a testament to its forward-thinking approach to leveraging digital tools for improved audit outcomes. By embracing advanced technology, SAI Mauritius is not only enhancing its own audit methodology but also setting a valuable example for other Supreme Audit Institutions aiming to modernise their operations.
This initiative highlights the growing importance of technology in public sector auditing and underscores the role of collaboration and innovation in driving progress within the AFROSAI-E community.
